Why is the library canceling OverDrive?
The decision to cancel Overdrive/Libby was not made lightly. OverDrive/Libby and cloudLibrary offer comparable collections, but the annual platform fee for cloudLibrary is significantly less. Our goal is to offer the largest collection possible at the best price. Instead of having two e-book platforms that do the same thing we will be offering one go-to platform.
By canceling Overdrive/Libby and moving the collection to cloudLibrary we can use the money saved from Overdrive/Libby platform fees to buy more items for checkout in cloudLibrary. In addition, cloudLibrary allows us to share our collections with other libraries in the state, including the Altoona Area and Adams County libraries. By sharing our collections with one another we can offer much larger collections to you.
How long will OverDrive be available? When is the last possible day I can use OverDrive before it is shut down?
OverDrive/Libby will be available until August 22, 2020. During this time, OverDrive/Libby users will still be able to access content, however, some features, such as the ability to place holds, will be turned off. cloudLibrary is available and we encourage you to switch over now.

Will the current OverDrive collection migrate over to cloudLibrary?
Yes. Most titles will migrate over to cloudLibrary. As always, if there is something that didn’t migrate or something you would like us to consider purchasing, please visit our “Suggest a Purchase” page and let us know.
When is the last day I can place holds on titles on OverDrive?
July 17, 2020 is the last day you can place holds on titles in OverDrive/Libby. However, keep in mind that borrowing features will be unavailable soon after this date. We encourage you to switch over to cloudLibrary to start placing holds.
When is the last day I can borrow titles in OverDrive?
August 8, 2020 is the last day you can borrow titles in OverDrive/Libby. You can still read and listen to borrowed titles through August 22, 2020.
Will my holds and my reading history from OverDrive be automatically transferred to cloudLibrary?
No, these will not be transferred over. You can start by placing holds in cloudLibrary immediately. If you want to save your history from OverDrive/Libby, you will need to copy the information.
What happens to my account after OverDrive is shut down?
Once it is shut down and no longer available to Bucks County Free Library cardholders on August 22, 2020, existing information associated with the OverDrive/Libby account using your Bucks County Library card (email, reading history, holds, etc.) will be eliminated.
Will my OverDrive account from another library (such as Free Library of Philadelphia) be impacted by Bucks County discontinuing OverDrive?
No. If you have an account on OverDrive/Libby with the Free Library of Philadelphia or another library system, the account will still be valid.
If I already have an account with OverDrive, do I need to sign up for an account with cloudLibrary?
Yes, you will need to sign up for an account with cloudLibrary. Once you download the app, follow the prompts to set up your account. If you have problems, you can contact your branch or set up an appointment with our Remote Help Desk service.
What devices are compatible with cloudLibrary?

I own a Kindle Paperwhite. Can I use cloudLibrary?
No. cloudLibrary is not available for Kindle Paperwhite users. Please contact your branch for alternative ways to access e-materials on your Kindle Paperwhite or read our blog post.
How many items can I borrow and how many holds can I place in cloudLibrary?
Because we have access to a larger collection with cloudLibrary, we are able to allow users to check out 10 items and place 10 items on hold.
How often does new content appear in cloudLibrary?
Our staff order new content on cloudLibrary every Friday afternoon and the new content shows up soon after. Anytime you see “coming soon” on top of a title, this means it has not yet been released, but you are able to place holds on the title.
