In the Know: Your Guide to Watching the 2024 Ledgestone Open presented by GRIPeq with Top Storylines & Stats
The 2024 Ledgestone Open presented by GRIPeq returns to Peoria, Illinois, this week! Taking place at the challenging Sunset Hills (FPO) and Eureka Temp (MPO) courses, this weekend will will test require precision and focus after a week of trave back to the U.S. for many players who just completed the European swing. While Northwood Park will not be played this weekend (it was played at the PDGA Champions Cup earlier this season), players will still need to pay close attention to tight out-of-bounds lines and execute high-pressure shots that usually offer a significant amount of risk for those willing to attack.
A DGPT+ EVENT!
The Ledgestone Open is a DGPT+ event which means more competition, more coverage, and more points! This tournament will take place over the course of four rounds of competition for each division beginning on Thursday of this week and conclude on Sunday. A win at Ledgestone is worth 125 points, which is 25% more than a standard DGPT event. An underdog win at Ledgestone has the potential to shake up the DGPT World Standings which are currently led by Gannon Buhr and Missy Gannon, headed into the 2024 PDGA Pro World Championships here in just a few weeks.

Here’s a look at the top storylines headed into this weekend:
1️⃣ Missy Gannon: The Queen of Ledgestone
Missy Gannon enters the 2024 Ledgestone Open as the back-to-back defending champion, having secured victories in both 2022 and 2023, and finishing second in 2021. Gannon’s 2024 season has been exceptional, with four Major/Elite Series wins, marking her most successful season to date. Notably, she won the European Disc Golf Festival in Estonia just this last weekend, solidifying her position atop the DGPT standings. Gannon’s consistent performance at Sunset Hills and her status as the only non-world champion to win the same DGPT event in back to back years make her a formidable contender this year.
2️⃣ Ohn Scoggins: Seeking Redemption
Ohn Scoggins is aiming for a win after consecutive second-place finishes at the Ledgestone Open in 2022 and 2023. With a stellar season that includes five podium finishes, Scoggins is poised to break through and claim the top spot this year.
3️⃣ Holyn Handley: The Podium Regular
Holyn Handley has been a standout player this season, with eight Major/Elite Series podiums—the most in the FPO division. Handley’s breakthrough came with her first career Elite Series win at the 2024 Beaver State Fling. Known for her memorable albatross on Sunset Hills Hole 6 at the 2022 Ledgestone, Handley has shown she can produce spectacular moments. As she skips Europe to focus on the U.S. tour, Handley aims to translate her consistent podium finishes into a victory at Ledgestone.
MPO LOOKAHEAD

MPO2 Feature Card: Calvin Heimburg, Chris Dickerson, Andrew Preznel, & Gavin Rathbun
Here’s a look at the top storylines headed into this weekend:
1️⃣ Ricky Wysocki: The Ledgestone Dominator
Note: As of a few hours after publishing this article, Ricky Wysocki has dropped from the tournament.
Ricky Wysocki’s name is synonymous with the Ledgestone Open. A three-time champion (2020, 2021, 2022) and a consistent podium finisher, Wysocki is returning to a tournament where he has not only thrived but also set remarkable records. Notably, Wysocki shares the course record at the Eureka Temp course and has accumulated more prize money at Ledgestone than any other event.
Most Cash at a Single Elite Event

Ricky Wysocki | Preserve Championship | $30,925 | 5 |
Ricky Wysocki | MVP Open | $30,132 | 14 |
With three wins in his last five Major/Elite Series starts, Wysocki is in peak form, making him a favorite to add another Ledgestone title to his impressive resume.
2️⃣ Gannon Buhr: The Consistent Contender
Gannon Buhr, the current #1 player in the world, is having a stellar season with three wins in his last seven Major/Elite Series starts. Known for his consistency, Buhr hasn’t missed a top 10 finish in this stretch and has won three of the four four-round tournaments so far this season. As he heads into the Ledgestone Open, Buhr’s form and determination will be key in his quest to secure his first Ledgestone title, adding another prestigious win to his growing list of accolades.
3️⃣ Historic Winning Trends and the Battle for Supremacy
The Ledgestone Open has seen seven unique MPO winners in its nine-year history as an Elite Series event, with only Wysocki and Paul McBeth winning multiple times. This history of diverse champions sets the stage for a potentially unpredictable outcome. McBeth, who is also a two-time Ledgestone winner, has been surging up the DGPT standings with three podium finishes in his last four starts. The rivalry between Wysocki, Buhr, and McBeth adds an intriguing layer to this year’s competition, especially with Wysocki and Buhr vying for the top spot in the DGPT standings.
